Fire destroys kiosk at Dormaa Ahenkro

Dormaa Ahenkro (B/A), Sept. 5, GNA – Fire on Thursday destroyed three kiosks and items valued at 100 million cedis at Dormaa Ahenkro. The items included vulcanising machines, old and new tyres, refrigerators and clothes.

Mr Emmanuel Sarfo, Dormaa District Fire Officer told the Ghana News Agency that people in the vicinity detected the blaze in one of the kiosks at about 1345 hrs and informed personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service.

He said it took the personnel about 90 minutes to control the fire, and that had it not been their quick intervention the fire would have caused more havoc.

The Fire Officer said the cause of the fire was not immediately known but the service was investigating.

Meanwhile, the owners of the kiosks have appealed to individuals, the National Disaster Management Organisation and the Dormaa District Assembly to come to their aid.
