Fire destroys 2003 best farmer’s plantain farm

Sunyani, Feb. 8, GNA – A bushfire has destroyed a 65-acre plantain farm at Mantukwa village in Berekum District, belonging to Evangelist Osei Agyeman, 2003 national best plantain farmer. Mr. Kwame Fei, Assistant District Fire Officer, told the Ghana News Agency that damaged caused by the fire in the farm was about 100 million cedis.

He said the source of the fire was unknown and that investigations were still being conducted into the disaster.

The disaster has rendered 40 labourers on the farm jobless, the fire officer added.
