Fire destroy refrigeration shop twice in a month

Kumasi, Feb 28, GNA – For the second time in one month, fire has destroyed a refrigeration shop at Oforikrom in the Kumasi metropolis, destroying refrigerators, spraying machines and oxygen gas cylinders. Also destroyed by the fire were three other wooden shops close to the refrigeration shop and properties in the four shops destroyed by the fire is calculated to be over 80 million cedis. So fierce was the fire, which broke out on Saturday night that firemen of the Ghana National Fire Service failed to put out the fire.

Mr Raphael Obed Gyenin, Managing Director of Yakos Refrigeration and Air Condition shop who briefed the Ghana News Agency on his ordeal said during the first outbreak, which occurred on Valentine’s Day, he lost seven refrigerators. He said somebody informed him that there was fire in his shop and when he got there, the fire had destroyed his shop and three others. Mr Gyenin ruled out electricity as the cause of the fire saying that there was a general light out in the area. The Oforikrom police are in the meantime investigating the cause of the fire outbreak, he added and appealed to people whose fridges were with him to exercise patience as the cause of the fire was being investigated.
