Fire consumes taxi cab on N1 Highway

A taxi cub was on Wednesday evening totally destroyed by fire on the N1 Highway at Lapaz Traffic light junction in Accra.

A pedestrian who first spotted the fire at its initial stages raised alarm following which the passengers forced their way out of the burning car. The cause of the fire is not immediately known.

Dozens of eyewitnesses looked on helplessly as the fire consumed the car.

The Ghanaian good sense of fellow-felling was absent while the car was burning, as surprisingly not even a single driver donated his/her fire extinguisher to help douse the fire at its initial stages but rather drove past.

Eventually when a ‘good Samaritan’ brought in his fire extinguisher, the car had been totally consumed.

The car could have been salvaged or the unfortunate incident averted if the driver of the burnt car himself had his own fire extinguisher as prescribed by law.
