Fire burns baby to death

Sunyani, Jan. 4, GNA – A one month old male child was on Tuesday burnt to death in a wooden structure home at Area Two in Sunyani. Chief Inspector Christian T. Yohunu told the Ghana News Agency Madam Nina Nkrumah, unemployed and mother of the child had lit a lantern to keep the sleeping baby warm in the room. He said Madam Nina, who was washing some clothes in front of the structure later saw a thick smoke coming out of the room and rushed there to save the child but due to the intensity of the fire she could not enter and so raised an alarm for help. Chief Inspector Yohunu said neighbors called the Ghana Fire Service and it took the personnel about 30 minutes to put off the fire. He said the body of the child was found partly burnt and had been deposited at the regional hospital mortuary.
