Finatrade Foundation releases almost GH¢ 16,000 to students

Mr John Awuni, Executive Secretary of Finatrade Foundation, the humanitarian wing of Finatrade Group of Companies, has challenged students under their scholarship scheme to distinguish themselves by excelling in their courses.

This, he said, they could do by concentrating on their studies to maintain high academic and disciplinary standards in emulation of the past beneficiaries of the facility.

Mr Awuni said this when he presented cheques for GH¢ 15,600 to 39 scholars as their first semester support in the 2014-2015 academic year.

The Finatrade Foundation, since its establishment in 2003, has sponsored more than 200 students to complete their undergraduate studies in the Faculty of Agriculture in four public universities in the country namely.

The institutions are the University of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, University of Cape-Coast and the University for Development Studies.

Eight students pursuing Agriculture related Masters programmes have also received sponsorship.

Over the period, more than 150 students have graduated with first class honours degrees.

The Foundation, which is the Corporate Social Responsibility wing of the Finatrade group, has for the past 10 years apart from supporting students, also engaged in other humanitarian and social activities.
