Finance Minister to launch Farmers’ Day

Accra, Aug 19, GNA – Mr Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, would on Wednesday August 24, launch the 21st National Farmers’ Day in Accra.

The theme for the celebration is: “Agricultural Production and Productivity: the Key to Growth and Poverty Reduction.”

A statement signed by Ms Clara Moore, Public Relations Officer at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture; said there would be appeal for funds and sponsorship.

The National Farmers’ Day celebrated annually on the first Friday of December affords the Government an opportunity to honour farmers and fishermen for their exceptional role in the development of the country. Farmers’ Day encourages Ghanaians to embrace agriculture as an important sector of the economy with great potential for employment and poverty reduction.
