A final-year student of Wa T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School (Wa Amass) is battling for his life after being stabbed during a violent altercation on campus Tuesday night.
The victim, identified as Iddrisu Ibrahim, popularly known among students as “Lincoln”, reportedly sustained serious injuries to his rib and stomach following a dispute with a fellow final-year student, Hafis, also known as “Baayaawa.”
Eyewitnesses say the conflict began when Lincoln, a Year 3 Agricultural Science student from Bulenga, allegedly filmed Hafis without his consent. The video angered Hafis, a Year 3 General Arts student from Bawku, who confronted Lincoln and demanded it be deleted.
When Lincoln reportedly refused, Hafis threatened to stab him, a warning Lincoln is said to have dismissed.
“Things escalated quickly,” said one student. “Before we knew it, Hafis pulled a knife and stabbed Lincoln.”
According to a female eyewitness, Lincoln stumbled out of the hostel area with the knife still lodged in his body. “Some students pulled the knife out and rushed him to the hospital,” she said.
The injured student collapsed near the school library before being taken to the Wa Regional Hospital, where he is currently in critical but stable condition.
Police intervened swiftly to prevent further escalation, arresting Hafis as some students reportedly mobilized to retaliate. He is currently in custody assisting with investigations.
The school is yet to release an official statement, but security has been tightened across campus, and counselling services are reportedly being arranged for students affected by the incident.
Parents and education stakeholders have expressed shock and concern, calling for a swift and transparent investigation and stronger measures to ensure student safety.
