Fetish priest remanded for murder

Nsawam Jan. 23, GNA – A magistrate’s court at Nsawam on Friday remanded five persons including a fetish priest for allegedly murdering Fred Yaw Osae, businessman, at Sakyikrom near Nsawam.

Their pleas were not taken and they will reappear on February 14. The accused persons were Kwaku Tawiah, Donney Egbavado, a fetish priest, Kudwo Agbeaku, Abudu Kwame Dedor and Issah Adams.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Alex Cosmos told the court presided over by Mr Joseph Mensah, that Donney, confessed to the police during interrogation that it was Kwaku Tawiah who killed Osae and called for his assistance to bury him.

The prosecutor added that the late Osae left his house at Adoagyiri, near Nsawam on Friday November 24, 2006 to collect his money from Kwaku Tawiah, who is also a brother-in-law at Adeiso but did not return that day.

As a result, Obaa Yaa, the deceased’s wife accompanied by other family members, went to Adeiso on November 29, 2006 and confronted Tawiah about the whereabouts of her husband but he provided no clue to his whereabouts.

Tawiah was later arrested by the police on the suspicion of murder of Osae.

During interrogation, the suspect agreed that the deceased came to him on November 11 and 24, last year, but could not tell of his whereabouts.

Kwaku Tawiah was later granted police enquiry bail, but on December 3, around 1900 hours, police had information about the murder of the deceased and the dumping of a sack containing his body in a stream at Adeiso.

On December 4, last year, at about 06:00hours, the police rushed to the scene only to realize that the body had been removed to an unknown place.

After a through search, the body was discovered buried at a spot in a thicket.
