Fetish Priest arrested for indecent assault

Wassa Akropong (W/R), Nov. 17, GNA – A Prestea Magistrate’s Court has remanded Charles Nyamekye, 26-year-old Fetish Priest, in custody for inserting his fingers into the genitals of a 16 years old Junior Secondary School student Wassa Akropong.

Nyamekye, who was charged with indecent assault and pleaded not guilty, would reappear at the Court presided over by Mr Benjamin Yaw Osei on November 18.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Wassa Akropong, Chief Inspector Anthony K. Akowuah of Wassa Akropong Police said the accused Charles Nyameke is the boyfriend of the victim’s aunt and they both lived in the same house at Wassa Akropong.

Chief Inspector Akowuah said on October 2, Nyameke called the girl to his room under the pretext of sending her.

He said as soon as the girl entered the room, the accused pushed her onto a bed and recited some incantations after which he inserted his fingers into the genitals of the victim for 20 minutes till she started bleeding.

Nyameke then wiped the blood with a handkerchief and smeared it on the icon of his god being and warned the girl not to tell anybody what had happened otherwise the god would kill her.

After the act, the accused asked the victim to jump through the window to avoid being seen, but her brother saw her and questioned her and she narrated the ordeal she had gone through at the Fetish Priest’s house.

The brother reported the incident to the Police and when the room of the fetish priest was searched the icons were retrieved.
