Female teachers receive bicycles

New Edubiase (Ash), Aug 7, GNA – The government in collaboration with the Department for International Development (DFID) on Thursday presented 52 bicycles to female teachers teaching in some of the remote communities in the Adansi East District of Ashanti.

The bicycles were to help reduce the problem of transportation facing the female teachers who did not reside in the communities due to accommodation problems.

It was also to serve not only as incentive but morale booster to the female teachers who readily accepted to teach in the remote areas in spite of the difficulties.

Presenting the bicycles to the teachers at New Edubiase, Nana Appiah Danquah, Head of Supervision and Inspectorate Division of the Adansi East District Education Directorate, expressed appreciation to DFID and asked for motorcycles the next time.

He explained that the motorcycles apart from being quicker, would enable the teachers to get to the more difficult areas.

Nana Danquah advised the recipients to take their work seriously and to report to duty on time now that they had some means of transport. He also asked teachers to be focused so that they could further their education.
