Fear of loosing members should not be a factor

A minister of religion has advised churches not to let the fear of loosing members become a stumbling block to their resolve to preach against indecent dressing and indiscipline in society. Bishop J.N.K. Boateng, Founder of the Gospel Revival Church of Christ, said ”what matters most in the Christian faith is not the number of people a church controls or can boast of, but the quality of its membership”.

Bishop Boateng gave the advice at a meeting with elders of the church at Sofoline in Kumasi on Sunday.

He said apart from evangelising and preaching the gospel, churches also had a duty to instil good morals in their members.

Bishop Boateng said the tendency for some churches to think that without large membership the church would not be able to survive because their incomes would reduce was untenable and misplaced.

“The church is not a money-making venture but an institution devoted to salvaging people from their evil ways and bringing them back to Christ.”
