Fear Grips The People Of Asutifi

…As Ritual Murder Hits The District

Reuben A.K. Oliver, Kenyasi-B/A

Fear and panic gripped the people of Kenyasi in the Asutifi District of Brong Ahafo Region when they woke up on Tuesday, 21st February, 2012 only to realize that an 11-year old Primary Four boy (Sammy) had been ritually murdered and his body dumped into an uncompleted manhole.
The Holy Spirit Academy pupil, it is said, returned from church on Sunday afternoon and later went out to play football with his friends within the same vicinity but did not return home after dusk.
The people of Kenyasi therefore started an intensive search for the boy but all efforts to trace his whereabouts proved futile. Not until Tuesday, 21st that he was found dead in a manhole about one hundred meters away from his house.
When the police retrieved the body, it was discovered that they had pierced his neck with a sharp metal and all his blood sucked. There was also a deep cut into his skull but amazingly, there was not a single drop of water from his mouth when the police pressed on his stomach to ascertain drowning.
The body had since been deposited at the St. Elizabeth Hospital at Hwidiem awaiting autopsy. Meanwhile, the police are mounting a serious investigation into the case.
The whole of Kenyasi stood still upon hearing the sad news and they started reading meanings into the matter. Actually, they attributed it to the galamsey activities in the District which has drawn many mixed characters from all corners into the district thus increasing social vices and ritual murder at Kenyasi and its surroundings.
In less than a month, two decapitated bodies were found in a bush near the Kenyasi No.2 cemetery who were identified to be girls with their ages ranging between seven and nine years respectively.
