FDB warns against adverts on two drugs

Kumasi, Aug 17, GNA- The Food and Drugs Board (FDB), has cautioned the general public that it had not given approval for the advertisement of Mensofix Capsules and 100 per cent Power Tonic.

A release issued by the FDB in Kumasi, on Monday said it had noted with concern the increased number of advertisements, particularly in the Ashanti Region, of the two drugs that are supposed to prevent and cure sexually transmitted diseases, genito-urinary infections and diseases related to the human reproductive system.

It said the Food and Drugs Law 1992 and PNDC Law 305 B have prohibited the production and marketing of drugs that claim to treat the diseases listed.

The release urged the media to assist in the enforcement of the law in the interest of public safety.

Meanwhile the FDB has ordered Walab Pharmacy, to withdraw advertisements and marketing of the drugs.
