FDB suspends operations of five sachet water producers

Accra, March 22, GNA – The Food and Drugs Board (FDB) has suspended the operations of five sachet water producers for operating without FDB’s registration and producing water under unhygienic conditions, posing risk t= o public health and safety. They are J and J Plastics Limited at Medie (Off Kotoku Road) producers of Cool Natural Mineral Water, Nafanso Engineering Services at Shikpontele, producers of NES Aqua and Maa Sai Enterprise located at Medie, producers of Sure Coolers.

The rest are; Mr Valic Factory at Medie producers of Horizon Mineral Water and Chita Company Limited located at Shikpontele producers of Chita Drinking Water.

A statement signed by Dr Stephen K. Opuni, Chief Executive Officer of FDB, in Accra on Tuesday said: 93The FDB cannot guarantee the safety and quality of these sachet water products since it has not inspected these premises and has never evaluated these products for safety and quality. The public is therefore advised not to patronise them.” It urged the public not to hesitate to bring to the attention of the FDB any person or persons who might be clandestinely operating sachet water plants, and gave the assurance of its resolve to protect public health and safety.
