FC Workers re-affirm membership with TWU

Accra, Feb. 03, GNA – The Second National Delegates Conference of the Forestry Commission House Union of the Timber and Wood Workers Union (TWU) on Thursday called on the Ghana Trades Union Congress to implement the report of its three-member conciliation committee without any delay. The call was in response to a claim by the Ghana Agriculture Worker Union (GAWU) that the Forestry Commission Workers, which belonged to the TWU, were rather members of GAWU.

A statement Mr Joshua Ansah, General Secretary of TWU, signed on Thursday in Accra said the call was part of a resolution adopted at the end of a two-day National Delegates Congress at Ejisu in the Ashanti Region and released in Accra It said the delegates declared that the entire staff of the three divisions and units of the Forestry Commission (FC) re-affirmed their unflinching loyalty and support for TWU.

“The non-managerial staff of the FC Corporate Headquarters, Forests Service Division, Timber Industry Development Division, Wild Life Division, the Wood Industries Training Centre and Resources Management Support Centre are resolute and no amount of coercions and intimidations can change our decision to join the TWU”, it said.
