The chiefs and people of Fawohoyeden in the Asunafo North Municipality of the Brong-Ahafo Region have warned politicians against campaigning in the area towards this year’s general election unless the dusty roads in the area are tarred.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview at Fawohoyeden, Okokodurufuo Boakye Dankwa, chief of the town, said numerous appeals to the Municipal Assembly and the Regional Coordinating Council for the rehabilitation of the area’s roads had fallen on deaf ears.
“Even the chiefs themselves have gone to the offices of the Municipal Assembly in Goaso on the same purpose but up to date nothing concrete has come out of our official visits”, the chief said.
Okokodurufuo Boakye expressed regret about an abandoned local police station project in the area, which was started during the New Patriotic Party regime and reached the roofing level but had been abandoned by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.
He said if the Municipal Assembly and the RCC continued to ignore the community’s persistent appeals for the two projects to be carried out, the chiefs and their subjects would advise themselves come the December 2012 presidential and parliamentary elections.**
