Tema, April 19, GNA – Residents of Tema Community seven were on Monday evening stunned by the pathetic news of a 48-year-old man stabbing his 16-year- old Junior Secondary School (JSS) two student to death.
The body of Miss Portia Martey has been deposited at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital mortuary for autopsy while her father George Martey has been placed in police custody pending investigations.
Briefing newsmen at Tema on Tuesday, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Daniel Laryea Odai, Tema Regional Police Commander said following a report that a man had murdered his daughter at about 11.00 pm on Monday evening, the police rushed to the scene and found the deceased in a pool of blood and a kitchen knife used by the suspect behind her.
He said after committing the crime the suspect bolted however, he was apprehended and handed over to the police.
ACP Odai said the suspect was believed to be a drug addict who attacked his neighbours after taking in drugs. He said the suspect would be prosecuted after investigations.
