Koforidua, July 30, GNA – A Circuit Court in Koforidua on Wednesday remanded a man and his three sons in Police custody for an alleged murder of a Fulani herdsman at Asesewa.
Ako Quist and his sons, Kwesi Tettey Quist, Yaw Tettey Quist and Emmanuel Tettey Quist pleaded not guilty and would re-appear on August 4.
Police Chief Inspector, Theophilus Nyadu told the court presided over by Mr Emmanuel Ankamah that on June 29, this year, two Fulani herdsmen, Alhasan Bukari and Osmanu Fuseini, took a herd of cattle belonging to the complainant, Mr Moro Haruna, for grazing at Asesewa. He said while on the field, Ako, accompanied by his three sons, attacked the herdsmen with cutlasses and arrows.
Mr Nyadu said Bukari managed to escape and inform Haruna at Akuse junction about the incident.
He said a report was made to the Police and a search party was organised to look for him but Fuseini had not been seen since the day of the attack.
Mr Nyadu said the cutlass Fuseini was using at the time of the attack was later found under the bed of Ako when his room was searched. The docket on the case to be forwarded to the Attorney General’s Department for advice was being prepared.
