Father in Court for Defiling His Daughter

A father who decided to use her 12-year-old daughter to satisfy his insatiable desire for sex has been arraigned before a circuit court in Accra to answer charges of defilement.

Dennis Okoe Adjetey, is a building contractor who lives with the victim and the wife in the same house at Teshie a suburb of Accra.

According to the facts as presented by Prosecuting Officer, Chief Inspector Lawrence Gbele, in December last year, the wife of the accused who happens to be the complainant in the case left home for a night vigil service.

The Prosecuting Officer said in the absence of the complainant the accused had sexual intercourse with the daughter on their matrimonial bed and warned the daughter not to disclose the act to anybody.

According to Chief Inspector Gbele, out of fear the victim kept the wicked act of her father from the mother but after some days the mother being vigilant noticed some changes in the walking pattern of the victim.

The mother then subjected the victim to a series of interrogations upon which the girl narrated her horrific ordeal to her.

Chief Inspector Gbele said the mother who could not believe the story of her daughter confronted the accused who denied having committed the offence.

The mother however reported the case to the Nungua police where a medical report form was issued to her to send the victim to the hospital for treatment.

The accused was then arrested and charged with the offence but at the court he pleaded not guilty and was remanded in prison custody to reappear on the 9th of July this year.
