A lustful father who could not curtail his unbridled libido towards his 14-year-old biological daughter will spend the next 6 years behind prison bars in hard labour after being found guilty of defilement.
Edward Appiah 38, who pleaded guilty to the offence in open court and begged for leniency was convicted on his own plea by the Asamankese Circuit Court, presided over by Mr Ayitey Armah-Tetteh
Giving the facts of the case, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Joe Mike Adams disclosed that the accused is a farmer at Amankwakrom a suburb of Asuom in the Eastern Region together with the victim who is his biological daughter.
The victim he added is among three children of the accused but lives in the same bedroom with the wife and children.
According to him, sometime towards the end of last month the mother-in-law of the accused person fell sick and was rushed to St. Dominic Hospital, at Boadua by the accused and his wife, where she was hospitalized compelling the mother of the victim to remain in the hospital as a caretaker.
The accused person returned home alone to be with the victim and her two siblings but at about 9pm on May 2, 2017 the accused person took advantage of the absence of the victim’s mother and convinced the victim’s siblings to go and sleep with their Auntie at Asuom Old Zongo and was then left alone with the victim in the room.
Realizing no one was around, he forcibly had sex with the victim and warned her not to report her ordeal to anyone but she defied the warnings and reported the incident to her mother who in turn lodged an official complaint with the police.
A medical report form was issued for the victim to be sent to Hospital for medical examination which later confirmed she had some bruises in her private part due to forced penetration.
The accused was later arrested and upon interrogation, admitted the offence in his caution statement but blamed the devil for the dastardly act.
