Farmers remanded for polluting river Offin

Nkawie (Ash), Feb 17, GNA-Seven farmers from Bedaabour in the Atwima district have been remanded by the Nkawie Circuit Court for polluting River Offin, which is the source of drinking water for 13 communities.

The farmers whose pleas were not taken were Awudu Abubakari, Azuma Baba, Andrews Awuni, Yaw Prince, Kwame Agyapong, Akwasi Owusu and Kofi Kusi.

They would re-appear on February 19.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Ben Antwi told the Court presided over by Mr Justice Noble Nkrumah that on January 26, this year, upon a tip-off, a combined team of police, fire service and NADMO, arrested the accused persons with their booty after polluting and killing a quantity of fish.
