Farmers Ready for Their Day

The Minister of Food and Agriculture, Major Courage Quarshigah says the government is focusing on the promotion of local processing machines for rice and other cash crops. He said the production of local machines would help enhance agriculture in the country.

This was when 66 selected farmers for this year’s National Farmers’ Day celebration paid a courtesy call to the Ministry.

He added that, the production of local processing machines would reduce the importation of rice from other countries. “We are going to make Agriculture a real business in the country,” he said.

Major Quarshigah commended the farmers for their hard work and assured them of government support.

The farmers also called at the Ga Mantse’s Palace. Nii Adote Obuor II, Sempe Mantse and the Acting President of the Ga Traditional Council said they should continue to work very hard to the benefit of the nation.

He advised women who are into farming to work very hard so as to be included in the National Farmers Day Awards in the coming years.
