Farmers protest against non-payment for cocoa “purchased”

Agona Swedru (Central Region) 20 Dec. ’99 – Some cocoa farmers in the Central Region besieged the offices of the Cocoa Board, in Agona Swedru, to protest against non-payment for cocoa ‘purchased’ since the buying season began. They threatened to go on demonstration unless arrangements are made to pay them immediately.

The farmers gave the warning during the launching of the sale of Produce Buying Company shares at Agona Swedru, by the Financial Controller of the Company, Mr Paul Owusu.
