Farmers jailed for threatening to kill co-tenant

Mankranso (Ash), Feb. 29, GNA- A magistrate’s court at Mankranso, sentenced Kofi Ababio, a 24-year-old farmer to six months imprisonment for threatening to kill a co-tenant at Kunsu in the Ahafo-Ano South District of Ashanti.

The convict pleaded guilty and was convicted on his own plea. Police Inspector Abraham Agyei Mensah told the court presided over by Mr Frank Owusu-Afriyie that on February 17, this year, at about 1500 hours, the accused and his friends went for a hunting expedition and incidentally set Maame Fatima Musah, the complainant’s farm ablaze. Prosecution said when complainant blamed the convict for the incidence, the convict became infuriated and threatened to kill her. Inspector Mensah said on February 21, at 12 noon, convict wielding a cutlass again threatened to kill the complainant. Prosecution said complainant was shielded by some co-tenants and a report was made to the police at Mankranso leading to the arrest of Ababio, who in a caution statement admitted the offence. 29 Feb 08
