Gomoa Nduem (C/R), Nov. 12, GNA- About 6,500 youth nation-wide benefit from training in technology transfer from the networks of Ghana Regional Appropriate Technology Industrial Service (GRATIS) Foundation and Rural Technology Transfer Centre (RTTC) every year.
The government of Ghana with the support of European Union (EU) and Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) have been supporting the GRATIS Foundation and RTTC in promoting industrial development and job creation.
Mr Thomas Dodoo, Central Regional Manager of GRATIS Foundation announced this at the closing of a five-day workshop on grass-cutter rearing for 30 members of Nduem branch of Gomoa Women and Youth Association at Nduem in the Central Region.
Mr Dodoo noted that the nation could not achieve socio-economic development unless women were encouraged and motivated to develop their traits.
He said women had potentials and were creative, adding that it was in recognition of such traits that GRATIS Foundation/RTTC sought to make them equal partners in the national development process.
Mr Dodoo exhorted the participants to take advantage of the interventions being offered by the government and donor agencies to upgrade their standard of living.
Alhaji Osman Moro Fukuyama, the National Co-ordinator of Women and Youth Association, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) appealed to the National Board of Small Scale Industries (NBSSI) financial institutions and district assemblies to offer the youth credit facilities to establish their businesses.
Alhaji Fukuyama expressed concern about inability of some youth who had acquired vocational and entrepreneurial skills to establish themselves due to financial difficulties.
