Farmers in Bawku West refused VIP credit

Zebilla (U/E), Aug 28, GNA- Most farmers in the Bawku West District of the Upper East Region could not access credit under the Village Infrastructure Project (VIP) this year, owing to BESFA Rural Bank’s unwillingness to disburse the funds.

The Mr Moses Abaare Appiah, the District Chief Executive, made this known at the second ordinary session of the Bawku West Assembly. He said due to reforms carried out by the management of VIP the fund, which was the preserve of the assembly, was shifted to BESFA Rural Bank for the purpose of efficiency.

Mr Appiah said the situation has slowed down the implementation of projects under VIP.

He said three dams being constructed at Zongoyiri, Kusanaba and Boya Kpalsako are almost complete while the Binaba market project being sponsored by the VIP has slowed down due to technical problems.
