Farmers appeal to PBC to rehabilitate cocoa shed

Atuntuma (Ash), April 2, GNA- Cocoa farmers at Atuntuma and its surrounding villages in the Atwima District of Ashanti have appealed to the produce Buying Company (PBC) of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) to as a matter of urgency rehabilitate the cocoa shed in the town. The roof of the shed was ripped off in a rainstorm about seven years ago.

Making the appeal at Atuntuma on Tuesday, Nana Kwaku Gyinadu III, Odikro of the town said cocoa farmers in the town and its surrounding villages had for years sold their produce to the PBC but regretted that their request for the rehabilitation of the shed had fallen on deaf ears in spite of numerous appeals and reminders. He warned that the farmers might be forced to sell their produce to another licensed buying company operating in the area, should the PBC failed to rehabilitate the shed.
