Farmers appeal for rehabilitation of road

Tadieso (B/A), June 15, GNA – Cocoa farmers at Tadieso, near Mfrekrom in Asunafo South district of Brong-Ahafo have appealed for the rehabilitation of the eight-kilometre road linking the area to Mfrekrom to facilitate the transportation of their produce to marketing centres. Nana Nyarkor Ampem, Odikro of the area, who made the appeal through the Ghana News Agency at Tadieso said the farmers had through their efforts been rehabilitating the road, which was constructed about thirty years ago by a timber company.

He said there are two streams on the road that need bridges, a project whose cost was beyond the capability of the farmers. “The large quantities agricultural produce from the area is very appreciable and without the help of the government, the financial loss to the farmers will discourage them”, the chief added.

The Odikro noted that the condition of the road had aggravated the plight of the farmers who have had to carry their cocoa and other produce for the distance of 15 kilometres to Goaso.
