Farmers advised to save with rural banks

Awutu Bawjiase, Sept. 14, GNA – The Chairman of the Awutu Bawjiase Area Rural Bank, Mr Emmanuel Osei has advised cocoa and food crop farmers in the area to save some of the annual returns with the bank to enable them use it as security to secure bigger loans to support their children’s education.

Mr. Osei gave the advice when he met cocoa and crop farmers at Bawjiase to discuss matters concerning their operations on Friday. He said, apart from the savings, the farmers could buy shares from the bank to guarantee the security of the farms as well as old age.

Mr. Augustus Yankey, Supervising Manager of the Bank said the bank had initiated several supportive schemes to augment the efforts of farmers who patronise the bank and called on all shareholders and workers to attend the bank’s annual general meeting scheduled to come off on September 20, to enable them to offer constructive suggestion and ideas needed to promote the aims and objectives of the rural banking concept.
