Farmers advised to buy seeds from accredited dealers only

Akumsa-Dumase (B/A), Aug 24, GNA- Dr O.A. Danquah, a Plant Pathologist, at the Crops Research Institute (CRI), has advised farmers to buy seeds only from accredited seed dealers to guarantee optimum yield.

Dr Danquah gave the advice at a farmers’ field day, at Akumsa-Dumase in the Nkoranza District, during which the 64- farmers where exposed to the Seed Health Technology Transfer programme, being supported by the Danish International Development Agency through the Danish Seed Health Centre For Developing Countries.

The day was organised by the CRI of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, in collaboration with the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and the Grains and Legumes Board.

Dr Ernest Asiedu, a Seed Technologist, at the CRI, called on farmers to venture into the specialised area of quality and certified seeds production, to meet the increasing demand of farmers.
