Farmer says he needs compensation

Mr Daniel Kwatey Fatahu, a 65-year-old farmer of Dedesu Sohukpo, a farming community near Begoro in the Fanteakwa Municipality, has appealed to the Municipal Assembly and the Ghana Education Service (GES) to compensate him for the land on which the people of Sohukpo had constructed their school building.

He told the GNA that three years ago, the people led by the Unit Committee Chairman, Mr Robert Hodunu, built a six-unit classroom block, office, store and a toilet on it on his farmland without consulting him.

Mr Fatahu said during the construction of the building, he confronted Mr Hodunu who promised that adequate compensation would be paid him after the completion of the project.

He said when the structure got to the lintel level, he again approached Mr Hodunu who repeated that compensation would be paid him but the project had been completed and no compensation had been paid to him.

Mr Fatahu said he complained to the Chief of the area, Nene Tekpeteye, but nothing came out of it.
