Farmer remanded for biting off colleague’s ear.

Cape Coast, June 9, GNA- Kweku Adu, a 32-year old farmer from Abija, in the Twifo-Heman-Lower Denkyira, was on Thursday remanded in prison custody by a circuit court at Cape Coast, for allegedly biting off a part of the right ear of another farmer.

Adu, pleaded guilty with explanation but the court, presided over by Mr Beresford Acquah, changed his plea to guilty, after he explained that what he did, was in self-defence. He is to be re -arraigned on Thursday June 23.

The prosecution told the court that on May 22 this year, a football team from Gyankobo went to Abija to engage the local team in a friendly match and a misunderstanding arose between the two teams during the match, when a player from the visiting team was fouled. It said Adu, who was then watching the match took a stick to hit the player who was then lying on the ground, and one of his team mates, Bright Koreng, who is also a farmer, tried to prevent him.

The prosecution said a fight broke out between Adu and Koreng, during which Adu bit off the lower part of his right ear and the matter was reported to the police.
