Farmer remanded for attempted murder

Sekondi, March 23, GNA – A Sekondi District Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, remanded Francis Mawuvi, a farmer, in prison custody for attempting to murder a relative at Wassa Atobiase. His plea was not taken and would re-appear on April 13, this year. Police Inspector Andam Okyere told the court that the complainant Kofi Anorsu also a farmer and the accused are relatives resident at Wassa Atobiase where they also distil Akpeteshie but at loggerheads.

Inspector Okyere said at about 6.00 AM on March 22 this year, the accused heard that the complainant had given his wife 20,000 cedis to crack palm kernel for him but the accused who was not happy about it complained about it to their Uncle, Yaw Amuzuga. Inspector Okyere said that at the meeting with the Uncle, the accused who threatened to kill the complainant rushed to the distillery and fired a shot from a gun in his possession and poured a quantity of Akpeteshie in a drum on the ground. He said the accused was arrested after a report to the Police.
