Cape Coast, Dec. 13, GNA – A Cape Coast Circuit Court on Monday remanded Albert Tsiwah, a 50-year-old farmer for assaulting Kwabena Buabeng, a gong-gong beater at Dominase near Komenda.
Tsiwah, who pleaded not guilty, would reappear on December 17. Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Augustine Amonoo told the court presided over by Mr Mustapha Logoh, that on November 4, this year, the queen mother of Dominase asked Buabeng to beat the gong-gong to inform the public of the district’s celebration of the Farmer’s Day in the area.
He said, on his way home after making the announcement, Buabeng met Tsiwah, who confronted him and asked who told him to beat the “nonsense gong-gong” and he replied that it was the queen mother.
He said with this explanation, Tsiwah attacked Buabeng and seized the gong-gong from him and run to the Komenda police station to lodge a complaint that the gong-gong beater had instructed the town folks not to buy anything from Abiba, the wife of Tsiwah.
He said not quite long, Buabeng also arrived at the station to lodge a complaint that Tsiwah had beaten him up and seized his gong-gong from him, with the reason that he does not see why Buabeng should be allowed to beat the gong-gong in the village.
He said after police investigation it was found out that Tsiwah had lied to the police and was therefore charged with the offence.
