Farmer kills girlfriend at Twanenekrom in Wassa East

A 39-year-old farmer, Kwame Ansah, stabbed his girlfriend, Efua Tawiah, 30, to death at Twahenekrom near Sekyere-Nsuta in the Wassa East District of the Western Region.

The suspect allegedly stabbed the girlfriend several times in the abdomen and close to the right breast, and she bled to death, the Western Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Police Service, Assistant Superintendent of Police Olivia Ewurabena Adiku told the GNA on Wednesday.

She said the two love birds had been in relationship for the past five months and resided in the same village but lived separately.

She said police investigations revealed that Ansah gave Ghc30 to the girlfriend for safekeeping and on October 28, Ansah went to the house of the deceased and demanded for the money, but the deceased told him that she had used the money to buy a shirt for him and that it was left with Ghc4

This resulted in a misunderstanding and a scuffle ensued between them and in the process the suspect stabbed the girlfriend killing her instantly.

ASP Adiku said the suspect also sustained injuries on his hands and was arrested.
