Farmer jailed for stealing sugar cane

Sekondi April 25, GNA-A Sekondi District Magistrate’s Court on Monday sentenced Yaw Danso, a 37-year old farmer, to 18 months imprisonment with hard labour for stealing a quantity of sugar cane valued at 700,000 cedis.

He pleaded guilty to stealing.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Joe Hedidor said, the complainant, Akosua Ackah who visited her farm at Dompim Number One, last week noticed that somebody had harvested her sugar cane.

Chief Inspector Hedidor said her investigations revealed that it was Danso who stole harvested the crop.
