Farmer jailed for stealing charcoal

Mamponteng (Ash), Oct 3, GNA – The Mamponteng Magistrate Court has sentenced Haruna Kusasi, a farmer at Kyekyewere in the Sekyere West district of Ashanti to six months imprisonment for stealing a bag of charcoal valued at 36,000 cedis. He pleaded guilty to stealing.

Police Inspector Solomon Etrew told the court presided over by Mr Uuter P. Dery that, at about 3 PM on 9 August this year, the accused was caught in the act stealing a bag of charcoal from the farm of Mr Ismael Appiah at Kyekyewere. He was arrested and handed over to the Jamasi Police and during interrogation, the accused admitted the offence and was charged before the court.
