Accra, Oct. 5, GNA – A 33-year-old farmer, who defiled a four-year-old girl and clubbed her grandmother for querying him over the act, was on Wednesday sentenced to 23 years’ imprisonment with hard labour by a Circuit Court in Accra.

Kofi Botchey pleaded guilty to defilement and was sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment with hard labour. The same court also sentenced Botchey to three years’ imprisonment with hard labour for causing unlawful harm to Madam Grace Kpapko, the victim’s grandmother. The Prosecutor, Police Inspector Isaac A. A. Ahor said at about 1900 hours on September 26, Botchey lured the victim into a semi-detached structure and defiled her.

Soon after the act, the victim ran to her grandmother and informed her about her ordeal.

When Madam Kpakpo inspected the victim’s private part, she found fresh semen and bloodstains.

She confronted Botchey but he did not take kindly to it and clubbed Madam Kpakpo’s head with a wood leaving her bleeding profusely and unconscious.

She was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
