Farmer jailed 20 years for defiling girl, 12

The Juaso Circuit Court, presided over by Justice Alex Obeng Asante, has sentenced a farmer to 20 years imprisonment in hard labour for defiling a 12 year-old girl.

Kwabena Dankwah, 22, had pleaded guilty to the crime. Police Sergeant Emmanuel Gavi told the court that both the convict and the victim lived at Yaw Barimah, a farming community near Obogu in the Asante-Akim South District.

On Saturday, November 10, at about 1430 hours, Dankwah lured the unsuspecting victim to a cocoa farm and there, sexually abused her.

The shrill cry of the young girl, who could not endure the pain, attracted another farmer, Kofi Kissi to the scene, where he saw the convict right in the act.

He made a report to the chairman of the unit committee, leading to his arrest and handing over to the police at Obogu.
