Farmer jailed 15 years for defilement

Bekwai (Ash), Sept 9, GNA – A 32-year-old farmer at Manso-Dantano has been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment in hard labour by the Asante-Bekwai circuit court for defiling a four-year-old girl.

Simon Kwame Tetteh pleaded guilty to the charge and was convicted on his own plea.

Prosecuting, Police Detective Sergeant Stephen Ofori told the court that on August 27 Tetteh, who lived close to the house of the victim’s mother, went to the house to roast maize in the kitchen.

He gave the victim some of the roasted maize and later lured her to his room where he sexually abused her.

Tetteh run out of luck when the shrill screams of the little girl attracted her mother to the room and he was caught in the act.

The mother raised the alarm and Tetteh was arrested and sent to the police station.
