A 30-year old farmer who defiled and impregnated a 13-year daughter of his ex-girlfriend, has been sentenced to 12 years imprisonment in hard labour by the Juaso Circuit Court.
George Sarpong pleaded guilty to two counts of defilement and incest.
Detective Inspector Birikorang Peasah, prosecuting, told the court presided over by Mr. Fredrick Tetteh that the complainant, mother of the victim, is a food vendor at Konongo, and had one child with the accused person out of a previous love relationship with got soured two years ago.
The accused person, has however, been visiting the ex-girlfriend frequently because of the child between them.
On one of such visits, the accused person met only the victim at home, and took advantage to sexually abuse her, and thereafter cautioned her not to inform her mother.
However, on April 4, the complainant detected that the victim was pregnant and after incessant prodding, she revealed her ordeal to the mother.
The case was reported to the Konongo Police, which led to the arrest of the accused person.
He admitted the crime in his caution statement.
A police medical form which was issued to the victim to be examined medically, proved that the victim was 12 weeks pregnant.
