Juaso (Ash), Jan. 31, GNA – A 21-year-old farmer at Asuboa near Juaso who threatened a 12-year-old girl not to tell anybody after he had sex with her, has been jailed 12 years by the Juaso circuit court. Kwaku Sarpong pleaded guilty.
Prosecuting, Inspector K. Asamoah told the court, presided over by Mr Jacob Boon, that on December 12, 2004, at 2000 hours, Sarpong met the girl in front of his house and gave her money to buy him a loaf of bread.
He said when the girl returned with the bread, Sarpong invited her into his room and forcibly had sex with her. He also threatened her not to tell anybody else she will die.
The court heard that for fears of death, the victim did not tell her parents till she fell sick two weeks later and was taken to the Juaso district hospital where it was detected that she had been defiled. The father of the girl reported the case to the police and the girl mentioned Sarpong as the perpetrator.
