Farmer in court for abduction

Asamankese, Jan 20, GNA – Kwame Danso, a 20-year-old farmer, has appeared before the Asamankese Circuit Court charged with abducting a 17-year-old girl. Danso pleaded not guilty and was granted a 1,500 Ghana Cedis bail with one surety to re-appear on February 28. Police Chief Inspector Kate Ogyiri, prosecuting, told the court that on January 7, Danso visited the house of the girl at Asamankese and took her away for three days without the knowledge and consent of her parents.

She said the girl’s parents searched for her in vain until January 9 when Danso was spotted with the victim in town. Danso was, therefore, arrested and taken to the police station. On interrogation, he claimed that the girl was his girl friend and admitted keeping her for three days. He was as a result charged with the offence of abduction and put before the court.
