Farmer granted five million cedi bail for assault

Mankranso (Ash), Aug 7, GNA – A magistrate’s court at Mankranso has granted a 36-year-old farmer of Biemso Number One in the Ahafo-Ano South District, five million cedis bail for assault. Akua Boatemaa pleaded not guilty to the charge and will re-appear on August 15.

Police Inspector Abraham Agyei-Mensah, prosecuting, told the court presided over by Mr Frank Owusu-Afriyie that the mother of the accused and Akwasi Owusu (complainant) were not on good terms over a land dispute.

He said on July 5, this year, at about 1800 hours, the complainant was conversing with the linguist of the town and without any provocation Boatemaa rushed and slapped Owusu from behind. According to the prosecutor, the complainant drew the attention of the linguist as a witness and reported the case to the police at Mankranso.

Inspector Agyei-Mensah said the accused was arrested and after investigations was charged with the offence.
