Cape Cost Sept. 15, GNA – Kweku Agyir, a farmer who allegedly stole plantain suckers from the farm of a woman and inflicted injuries on her was on Wednesday granted 100 million cedis bail with two sureties to be justified by a Cape Coast Circuit Court.
Agyir also known as Robert Boison, pleaded not guilty and would reappear on September 28.
Prosecuting Police Chief Inspector Augustine Amonoo told the Court presided over by Mr Beresford Acquah that the accused and the complainant Madam Afua Nkrumah lived at Krofoformu near Komenda. He said on March 15 this year, Madam Nkrumah went to her farm and found Agyir in the company of another woman uprooting plantain suckers from her farm therefore, she confronted them which resulted into a quarrel.
The Prosecution said a witness in the case rebuked Agyir for insulting Madam Nkrumah but Agyir became offended and attempted to inflict cutlass wounds on the complainant but the witness hit Agyir’s hand and the cutlass fell. Police Chief Inspector Amonoo said the complainant picked up the cutlass from the ground and Agyir pulled it from her, resulting in a deep cut in the palm of the complainant who reported the mater to police and after investigations the accused was charged with the offence.
