Farmer gets three years for causing harm

Tarkwa, (W/R) April 01, GNA – A Tarkwa Circuit court has sentenced a 42 year-old farmer, Kwabena Kansah to three years imprisonment in hard labour for causing an unlawful harm.

He was convicted on his own plea.

Inspector Jonathan Adotey of Tarkwa Police told the court, presided over by Mr. John Ajet-Nasam that the accused and the victim Aba Akyere, a 28 year-old unemployed live in the same house at Tarkwa-Banso a farming community near Tarkwa.

Inspector Adotey said on March 18 this year, the accused, who was drunk emerged from his room brandishing a cutlass and threatened to kill the victim’s mother.

The victim according to the prosecutor confronted the accused as to why he wanted to kill her mother and this infuriated the accused who attempted to slash Akyere’s neck.

But in the in the process, Akyere blocked the cutlass with her left hand and the wrist was cut but did not sever.

The prosecutor added that a report was made to the police and the accused was arrested.
