Farmer gets 12 years jail sentence for defiling girl, 7,

Asamankese, April. 01, GNA – The Asamankese Circuit Court on Tuesday, convicted Peter Agbey, a 32-year-old farmer, on his own plea to 12 years imprisonment in hard labour for defiling a seven-year-old girl.

Police Chief Inspector Joseph Idan, prosecuting, told the court presided over by Mr Kofi Akrowiah that, Agbey and the victim lived in the same vicinity at Asamankese. He said on March 21, the victim was playing with friends, when Agbey, who used to buy drinks from the girl’s mother’s shop, invited her to accompany him to buy chewing gum. On reaching a spot, he lured the innocent girl into an uncompleted building and forcibly had sex with her, while covering her mouth to prevent her from screaming. When the girl got home, however, she reported the matter to her mother who after examining her reported the case to the police, who later arrested Agbey.
