Farmer fined for assaulting ex-fiancee

Bibiani, (W/R), Feb.18, GNA – A 35-year-old farmer, Peter Adzraku, has been sentenced to a fine of GH¢1,200 by a Bibiani circuit court for assaulting his ex-fiancee. Adzraku, who pleaded guilty, would serve six months in prison if he fails to pay the fine.

Detective Chief Inspector Alex Asamoah told the court, presided over by Mr Emmanuel Ankamah that, the complainant, Akosua Ackah, 29, a also farmer, resides at Basengle in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai district, while the accused resides at Affulkrom, also in the district. Detective Chief Inspector Asamoah said on December 7, 2008, at about 1900 hours, Basengle visited the house of the complainant who was his ex-fiancee and inquired about her whereabouts. The Prosecution said the accused was told that Ms Ackah was in the room with another man.

Chief Inspector Asamoah said the accused followed up to the said room and when he saw that the man was having an affair with Ms Ackah, he became furious and assaulted her. He said a report was made to the police and the accused was arrested and after investigations charged with the offence.
