Farmer fined five million for stealing goat

Asamankese (E/R), Oct 07, GNA – A 29-year-old farmer, Charles Amoako, who killed a goat that strayed into his wife’s kitchen, had been fined five million cedis by the Asamankese Circuit Court on Thursday. Amoako pleaded guilty to stealing the goat and would go to prison for 24 months in default.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Joseph Idan said Madam Akosua Benewaa noticed that one of her animals was missing so she and a friend went to Amoako’s house in search of the goat. As soon as his wife saw them, she took to her heels, holding a cooking pot that was found to contain goat meat and Amoako was arrested.
